Alternator fuse blown car wont start

  • check the alternator fuse under the passengers side fuse box. those like to blow and act like a bad alternator. that should fix the problem. its a 75 amp fuse.
Mar 20, 2013 · SOURCE: Blows fuse wont start. More than likely its being caused by a short-circuit to ground in the wiring in your Cranking Circuit. If it blows the fuse immediately after installing the fuse, its probably a hot-wire. If it blows it the second you try to crank it over, its probably one of the wires between your ignition and the Starter Relay.

My car wouldn't start. Only headlights and door chime working (I think they're not connected to 80a fuse). No response from instrument cluster. Tried charging the battery and swapping another one in. Towed to my mechanic. He replaced the 80a fuse and said it ran. Went to get it and it won't start. Any ideas? Thanks.

one had blown still nothin got battery tested and starter tested. some please help the car has started one time so it cant be the key, do you have any other if the car started once then its probably the ecu. the ecu, if replaced with another...

  • Dec 09, 2016 · I am guessing the field fuse blew, possibly the field coil got too hot and shorted out to ground, or the field regulator shorted. If it was the fusable link, it is possible that some of the diodes shorted to ground. A third possibility is a mechanic accidentally shorted one of the alternator terminals to ground.

    Dec 19, 2005 · Fuse blowing In the BMW service manual the fuse #15 is for the automatic transmission control module, temperature switch, oil level sender, and alternator. It is supposed to be a 7.5 Amp fuse. It says the fuse #14 is for the ECM engine control module. I would have the components listed above tested for a short of some kind -- :dunno:

    Dec 29, 2014 · No fuses were blown at this stage, i got my mate to come with his jump leads, we started the car and it was fine but no heater. I then turned the engine off and started it on its on, all fine and dandy once again but no heater/blower. I get home, engine off, try start again and all is well.
